Dec 30th 2010 - At Port Sanilac - Ice was still iffy so most are fishing the south end of the harbor.

At Lexington - Ice anglers in the harbor were catching some nice rainbow trout however they were also losing a good number of fish as it is hard to land a trout that size through a hole in the ice. The bite is slow on windy days.

 
Nov-11th -2010 - At Port Sanilac Pier and shore anglers have caught light numbers of chinook, steelhead, brown trout and perch. This is the time of year when small boats can fish in the harbor and just outside the piers.

At Lexington
Fishing was slow but pier and shore anglers are still catching some steelhead, brown trout and perch. Good perch fishing inside the harbor by boaters fishing some weed beds that are not fishable from shore.
 
Nov-4th -2010 - At Port Sanilac Perch fishing is slow but anglers did catch some chinook and brown trout.

At Lexington
Perch fishing slowed however a few salmon and trout were taken at first light and by those fishing at night. Most were tight-lining small lures like body baits.
 
Oct -27th -2010 - At Port Sanilac a few perch are being taken in harbor
perch are being taken in the harbor every day, and also a few steelheads and brown trout. Some Chinook salmon are being taken after dark, from roughly 7 PM to 3 AM, using a variety of baits and lures. Very little boat activity anywhere on southern Lake Huron last week.

 
Oct -24th -2010 - Trollers out of Lexington , Port Sanilac, and Harbor Beach were taking some steelheads from 20 to30 feet of water, and also from out deeper. Shore and pier anglers at Lexington were getting some perch, a few brown trout, and the occasional steelhead and pike. Some salmon have been reported jumping around the harbors at night.  
Oct -4th -2010 - Port Sanilac & Lexington - Most everyone is fishing from shore or the piers, taking a few brown trout, pike, and walleye on small Little Cleos, Rattle Traps, and Rapalas. Rumor has a couple of salmon caught in the middle of the night casting glow-in-the-dark spoons.  
Sept -28rd -2010 - At Lexington - Some 18 to 20 inch brown trout have been caught by pier anglers casting spoons or plugs.  
Sept -23rd -2010 - Anglers are still getting some steelhead in 30 to 50 feet of water as the fish continue to move in closer to shore.
 

Sept 2nd 2010 - At Port Sanilac - The fish are out deep so head out to waters 100 to 180 feet deep for trout, salmon and walleye. Perch could be found in waters 30 to 50 feet deep however catch rates were slow.
At Lexington - Those trolling caught a mix of coho, steelhead, lake trout and walleye. Perch fishing was spotty in 35 to 40 feet of water.

 
Aug -26th -2010 - At Port Sanilac - Steelhead fishing has been consistent all summer. Shiny spoons on bright sunny days were best. For perch, try 15 to 25 feet of water and keep moving to find active schools.
At Lexington - Those trolling are catching trout and salmon. Perch fishing was spotty.

 

Aug -19th -2010 - At Port Sanilac - Perch action has been hit and miss. Try drifting until you find an active school. Most perch have been coming from weed beds in 15 to 35 feet of water.
At Lexington - Good catches of lake trout and steelhead, with the occasional coho, chinook, and pinks while trolling in 80 to 140 feet of water. Try spoons with greens or blues.

 
Aug -10th -2010 - At Lexington, Port Sanilac, Mary Beth and Matt are surprised at the good numbers of steelheads currently being taken by bluewater trollers. They're fishing 60 to 100 feet, depending on the day, and picking up steelheads, a few coho and pinks a bit less than halfway down. There are fish out deeper also...the Thumb Steelheaders had a kids' fishing day Saturday and did real well on lake trout and steelheads out in 130 feet of water.

Perch fishing off Port Sanilac was pretty good early last week, but tapered off again by the weekend.

 
Aug -3rd -2010 - At Port Sanilac, perch anglers are doing fair in 35 to 40 feet of water. Bluewater trollers have been picking up a few steelhead from 90 feet of water, fishing 45 feet down.
At Lexington - Perch fishing is fair, mainly fishing south toward Lakeport in 20 feet of water.
 
July -29 -2010 - Perch anglers are reported doing well on the right day in 15 feet of water just south of the harbor. Perch were ranging from 8" to some as large as 14". Perch anglers at Lexington aren't doing quite as well, but they're getting some from weedbeds down toward Lakeport. Pier fishing at both locations is slow, and not many boats have been out after trout and salmon.
 
July -21 -2010 - At both Port Sanilac and Lexington some walleyes are being taken. Perch anglers were doing fair, but had to move around from weedbed to weedbed to locate active schools of perch.  
July -06 -2010 - At Lexington - perch anglers were fishing 12 to 20 feet of water in the weedbeds, Drift with minnows until you find fish, then anchor. Some walleye were being taken late in the evening off both Lexington and Port Sanilac from 20 to 30 feet of water  
June -14 -2010 - At Port Sanilac -it has been kind of quiet this past week; some lake trout taken.
At Lexington - lake trout and some salmon are coming from 60 to 70 feet, and they're starting to pick up some nice perch about 6 miles south of town from weedbeds. There's some sorting to be done, but the average was 20 to 25 nice perch per boat.
 
June -3 -2010 - At Port Sanilac - Lake trout and pink salmon made up the bulk of the catch for those trolling in 65 to 75 feet of water.
 
May- 28 - 10 - Port Sanilac & Lexington
Success for lake trout, pink salmon, and the occasional steelhead has picked up for those trolling in 50 to 100 feet of water. Good numbers of smallmouth bass were caught in the harbor.
 
May- 20 - 10 - Port Sanilac & Lexington Water in between the harbors has been muddy from wind and waves. Head out far enough to find clear water.
 
May- 13- 10 - Port Sanilac & Lexington - Salmon and lake trout are there for the taking when boats can get out. Try waters 20 to 40 feet deep and be willing to move around as the fish are scattered.

 
May- 4- 10 - Port Sanilac & Lexington
Trolling in 20 to 40 feet of water with spoons or body baits have caught a mix of lake trout, kings, coho, steelhead, pink salmon and the occasional brown trout.
 
Apr- 29- 10 - At Lexington - The fish were scattered and catch rates were slower. Some lake trout were caught in 25 feet of water and steelhead in 50 feet of water.
 
Apr- 23- 10 - At Lexington -Boaters have caught a few coho and steelhead. Reports say the water is so clear they can see bottom in 40 feet of water.
 
Apr- 15- 10 - At Port Sanilac - Those out trolling did best between the port and 5 miles north for trout and salmon. Crank baits worked best.

At Lexington - Boaters trolling in 10 to 35 feet of water were catching coho, steelhead, lake trout and the occasional king on crank baits. Coho were running 2 to 3 pounds and steelhead 2 to 5 pounds. The best fishing was within 10 miles south of the port. Pier anglers caught perch, coho and steelhead inside the harbor.
 
Apr- 08- 10 - At Port Sanilac - Boaters are trolling for trout and salmon and pier anglers are fishing both inside and outside the harbor. Look for crappie in the marina.

At Lexington - Boaters are trolling in 10 to 20 feet of water with planer boards and long lines. Taking mostly coho, a few kings and steelhead along with the occasional brown trout and whitefish. Pier anglers caught perch, pike, salmon and trout. Crappie were starting to show up in the marina.

 
Feb 17 - 10 - At Lexington - Lots of activity but catch rates were slow with only a few perch and a couple northern pike taken on minnows.

 
Feb 11 - 10 - At Port Sanilac - The ice along the south end of the harbor broke up.

At Lexington - Some nice perch along with a few rainbow trout have been caught however catch rates were hit-or-miss. Anglers with cameras say the fish are down there, but they just don't bite. A few suckers were caught by those fishing worms or wax worms right on the bottom.

 
11- 26 -09 - At Port Sanilac - a fair to good number of steelhead casting small spoons and crank baits or using crawlers and spawn.

At Lexington - Anglers are still catching steelhead when casting small spoons and crank baits or using crawlers and spawn. Perch are still hitting on minnows.
 
11- 12 -09 - At Port Sanilac - Perch fishing was been good in harbor.

At Lexington - Perch are being taken off the peir but some sorting will be needed, fish are ranging from 9 to 11 inches. Some steelhead were caught but it seems they have moved out of the harbor because of the warm temperatures. When they are in they have been hitting on small spoons, crawlers, minnows, and spawn sacks.
 

11- 5 -09 - At Port Sanilac - Smaller Perch were caught in the harbor. Some sorting will be required.

At Lexington - Smaller Perch were caught in the harbor. Some sorting will be required. Steelhead were caught on a variety of things including crawlers, minnows, spawn or spoons.

 
Oct 29 09 - Port Sanilac no report-

At Lexington - Steelhead were hitting on a variety of artificial lures or crawlers floated under a bobber near the bottom. Perch were hitting on minnows but anglers will need to sort out the small ones.
 
Oct 22 09 - Port Sanilac no report-

Lexington - A few perch and pike were caught in the harbor. Decent numbers of steelhead have been caught on the right day, as the fish seem to come and go. Pier anglers might catch 5 or 6 fish one day and none the next.
 
Oct 8 09 - At Port Sanilac - Boats trolling closer to shore have picked up a few salmon or steelhead. Shore anglers have caught an occasional steelhead.

Lexington -
Boaters trolling spoons in waters 30 to 70 feet deep have caught a limited number of salmon and steelhead. Salmon were starting to come into the harbor where pier anglers are targeting them with body baits or spoons. They have also caught the occasional steelhead or northern pike. Perch fishing was slow.

 
Oct 1 09 - At Port Sanilac - Boaters were catching salmon and trout. A few perch schools are scattered so you need to keep moving to find fish.

At Lexington - Perch anglers are still finding fish in 40 to 45 feet of water however the action has been hit-or-miss. Boaters heading out to waters 90 to 130 feet deep were still taking a mix of trout and salmon.

 
Sept 24 09 - At Port Sanilac - no report

At Lexington
-Those heading out deep have caught some salmon and steelhead. Lake trout are still hitting in 90 to 150 feet of water. Perch can be found in 40 to 45 feet of water all the way up to Port Sanilac, but the action was spotty. Keep moving until you locate a school of fish.
 

Sept 17 09 - At Port Sanilac - Trout and salmon have been caught in waters up to 100 feet deep. Walleye were caught in 60 feet of water.

At Lexington -Some reports of decent catches of kings, lake trout and steelhead along with the occasional walleye. Try fishing in 80 to 100 feet of water with walleye being in 60 feet of water. Perch fishing is spotty with the last reports having the fish in 40 feet of water along the weedbeds. A few pike were caught around the piers.

 
Sept 10 09 - At Port Sanilac - Boaters are catching salmon, steelhead and lake trout. Some are getting the occasional walleye when targeting trout and salmon. The perch were scattered however anglers were taking 10 to 30 fish per boat.

At Lexington - Those trolling were taking a variety of trout and salmon in 80 to 100 feet of water. Salmon and steelhead are about halfway down while lake trout are near the bottom. Walleye were caught but the perch were scattered in 40 to 60 feet of water.

 
Sept 3 09 - Lake trout are still hitting in 100 to 125 feet of water. Perch fishing is spotty.  

Aug 27 09 - At Port Sanilac - Perch continue to hit in 30 to 40 feet of water.

At Lexington - Anglers are still doing well on lake trout. Look for salmon and steelhead in 90 to 100 feet of water. Chinook are about halfway down while the steelhead can be found near the surface. Perch can be found in about 35 feet of water.

 

Aug 19 09 - At Port Sanilac - Lake trout and steelhead have been caught in 100 to 125 feet of water. Perch fishing continues on the weedbeds north of the port.

Lexington - Lake trout are still being caught. Perch anglers are doing well on the weed beds but anglers will need to move around to locate fish.
 
Aug 13 09 - At Port Sanilac - Perch were being taken from weed beds in 15 to 25 feet of water from here, to south of Lexington on minnows. Size ranges from small to jumbos of 13 to 15 inches. The perch schools are scayyered, so move around until you find an active school of fish.
 
Aug 6 09 - At Port Sanilac - Boaters have caught kings, lake trout and steelhead. Perch fishing was hit-or-miss in waters up to 25 feet deep. The perch are moving so anglers will have to keep moving to locate schools of fish.

At Lexington - Trolling in 110 to 160 feet of water has taken steelhead near the surface, kings are about halfway down and lake trout are at the bottom. Perch have been caught on various weed beds south of the port. The fish appear to be moving daily so anglers will need to move around to find them in 15 to 25 feet of water.
 
Jul 16 09 -Lake trout are being caught anywhere from 80 to 130 feet of water. Catfish are crazy especially during the evening hours. Night crawlers are working on the bottom and egg sinkers on a three foot lead. Perch action is spotty.  
Jul 9 09 - Everything has slowed - a few jumbo perch have been reported near at Lexington.  
Jul 2 09 - At Port Sanilac - Perch fishing here has also begun. Drift with minnows in 15 to 20 feet of water until you find fish and drop anchor. Pier anglers are catching bass and bluegills.

At Lexington - Perch fishing is just getting started and some nice 10 to 14 inch fish have been caught. Anglers were catching fish along the weed beds in 15 to 20 feet of water south of the port. Most are drifting until they find an active school of fish. Pier anglers are catching rock bass, bluegill, and bass.

 

Jun 25 09 - At Port Sanilac Perch are starting to show up and are in good numbers.

At Lexington - Lake trout, coho, chinook and a few walleye were caught when trolling in 30 to 80 feet of water. Pier anglers did well catching a mix of bluegills, rock bass, bluegills, crappie, smallmouth bass and small perch.

 
Jun 18 09 - At Port Sanilac - King fishing is decent in 70 feet of water. Water temperatures have improved greatly. Also a smelt run is coming up the river bringing a lot of other fish with them. Perch are starting to show up as well off of Lakeport.
At Lexington - Lake trout and salmon are hitting in waters 20 to 75 feet deep. Those fishing close to shore in the early morning caught salmon, lake trout and walleye. Pier anglers are catching rock bass, crappie, bass, pike, bullhead and a few walleye.
 
Jun 11 09 -At Port Sanilac - Coho are in tight and lake trout are fairly active. Water remains about 10 degrees cooler than it should be for this time of year.

At Lexington - Shore and dock anglers have caught a mix of walleye, smallmouth bass, pike, crappie, rock bass and bullhead. This harbor is somewhat more protected so anglers can usually fish on the days that are windy.
 

Jun 4 09 - At Port Sanilac - Boaters are still catching coho and lake trout. Most are trolling spoons off downriggers or planer boards.

At Lexington - Boaters trolling in 30 to 70 feet of water were finding coho and lake trout. As for perch, only a few jumbos were caught and most were females that have not spawned yet.

 
May 28 09 - At Port Sanilac -Boaters are heading toward the north and fishing in 30 to 60 feet of water for Kings, Coho and some steelhead. Body baits, spoons and cut bait seem to work well.

At Lexington - Boats trolling in 20 to 70 feet of water have caught a mixed bag of chinook, coho, steelhead and the occasional walleye. They are trolling mostly spoons off downriggers, long-lines, and planer boards.

 
May 20 09 - At Port Sanilac - Kings are straight out 10 to 12 miles.
 
May 14 09 At Port Sanilac - Boaters are catching a mixed bag of trout and salmon while the shore anglers are taking walleye at night when fishing outside the breakwall.

At Lexington - Lots of lake trout along with a few king and coho salmon have been caught trolling spoons. Walleye were caught at night

 
May 5 09 - At Port Sanilac - Has good salmon fishing when trolling north and south of the pier.

At Lexington - Good catchs of kings and coho are being taken when trolling in 20 to 40 feet of water. Most are using spoons or body baits off downriggers, dipsey divers, long lines and planer boards.
 

Apr 30 09 At Port Sanilac - The best catches are north and south of the port trolling in 10-20 feet of water using some spoons and body baits

At Lexington - Good catches of coho, chinook and even some walleye were taken on downriggers with long lines in 10 to 25 feet of water. Using spoons and body baits.

 

Apr 23 09 Boat anglers are catching salmon both north and south of the port when trolling.

At Lexington - Kings and Coho are being caught. Some nice 7 to 13 pound fish were caught in 12 to 25 feet of water when trolling planer boards with bombers or rapalas. Coho and perch were caught inside the harbor.

 
Apr 9 09 -
At Lexington
the Coho action is good in 8-18 feet of water trolling body baits off planer boards with orange being the a good color. A few steelhead, walleye and kings have also been reported. Lots of perch have been caught inside the harbor but many are small. Keepers are running 7 to 9 inches.
 
Apr 2 09 - Good fishing is being reported here and out of Lexington for Coho in 15-feet of water using Bombers and Silver Streaks off planer boards.  
Sept 25 08 - At Port Sanilac - Salmon and trout are being caught here as well. The smaller steelhead are hitting on small spoons such as Cleo's. Perch are being caught but not in the same numbers as Lexington.

At Lexington - A few trout and salmon have been caught. Steelhead are hitting on small spoons, crawlers and spawn. The better perch fishing was here but anglers will need to sort out the small ones. Most are using minnows taken right at the harbor.
 
Sept 25 08 - At Port Sanilac - Lake trout fishing has slowed and anglers are still waiting for the salmon to come in.

At Lexington - Fishing has been quite slow. No salmon have shown up in the harbors yet, but those casting for salmon have caught a lot of pike.


 
Sept 18 08 - At Port Sanilac - Boat anglers report limits of lake trout but perch fishing remains slow.
At Lexington - Lake trout are still being caught in waters up to 100 feet deep. Pier anglers are trying for salmon but the fish have not come in yet. No perch to speak of.
 
Sept 11 08 - At Port Sanilac - Perch fishing was spotty however a few fish have been caught in waters up to 40 feet deep.
At Lexington - They're getting a few perch in 25 to 40 feet of water. Kings, steelhead and lake trout have been caught in 90 to 110 feet of water when using dodgers with Spin-n-glows or spoons. Bass and pike were caught inside the harbor.

 
Sept 4 08 - At Port Sanilac - Perch fishing is spotty. Anglers are having trouble locating more than a few fish at a time.

At Lexington - Boats out trolling have managed to catch lake trout, steelhead and walleye. Perch fishing was spotty and pier fishing was slow.

 
Aug 28 08 - At Lexington - Perch fishing is slow. Anglers are marking lots of fish but can't get them to bite. For salmon and lake trout, try fishing 130 to 150 feet deep in order to find the thermocline. Smallmouth bass fishing remains good in the harbor.

 
Aug 21 08 - At Lexington - Boat anglers were marking perch around the weedbeds but no bite.

 
Aug 7 08 -
At Port Sanilac - Those drifting perch rigs with minnows have caught perch and some of those fish were nice jumbo perch. The trick is to find a school of fish then anchor. Salmon and lake trout have been caught in waters up to 100 feet deep.

At Lexington - Perch fishing was a bit spotty but those that find schools of fish are doing very well with good catches of 10 to 16 inch perch. Start by hitting the weedbeds in 15 feet of water and move around until you find fish. Minnows and perch rigs are the standard gear. Not many anglers are targeting salmon. Lake trout can be found in 80 to 120 feet of water.

 
Jul 31 2008 - Port Sanilac - Those drifting perch rigs with minnows have caught perch and some of those fish were nice jumbo perch. The trick is to find a school of fish then anchor. Salmon and lake trout have been caught in waters up to 100 feet deep.

 
Jul-24-08 - At Port Sanilac - Lake trout and salmon are being taken from 90 to 100 feet of water. Perch fishing is good around the various weedbeds around and north of the harbor in 15 to 20 feet of water. The perch tend to move day to day, so try drift fishing until you find a school of fish or target the rocks or gravelly shoals in 35 to 40 feet of water.

At Lexington - Pier fishing remains good for a variety of warmwater species. Quite a few pike have also been caught inside the harbor.

 

Jul 10 2008 - At Port Sanilac - Perch fishing around the weedbeds has been fair with most reporting about a dozen fish per boat. The fish are in 20 feet of water and are good-sized.

At Lexington - Some nice perch have been caught in 10 to 15 feet of water.

 
Jul 3 2008 -   At Port Sanilac - There are not many boaters after trout and salmon, but there are fish in 100 feet of water. Perch fishing has picked up with fish caught in waters up to 20 feet deep.

At Lexington - Perch are starting to hit around the weeds in 16 to 20 feet of water. Trout and salmon can be found in at 100 feet here also.

 
Jun-26-08 - At Port Sanilac - Trout and salmon are being caught when trolling in shallow, 45 to 65 feet deep.

At Lexington - Trout and salmon are being caught in 45 to 65 feet of water.

At Port Sanilac - Boaters are catching trout and salmon when trolling.
At Lexington - Boaters are taking a mix of king, coho, lake trout and pink salmon in 40 to 65 feet of water.

At Lexington - The salmon and lake trout are scattered in waters 30 to 100 feet deep. Perch were caught in 50 to 60 feet of water south of the port. Pier anglers have caught smallmouth bass, rock bass and other panfish.
 
Jun 05 2008 -  At Port Sanilac - Good action for Kings, Coho and Pinks along with Steelhead and Lake Trout using downriggers with spoons in the 30 to 60 foot range.
At Lexington - Boaters trolling have taken a mixed bag of Kings, Coho and Pinks along with Steelhead and Lake Trout on spoons in 30 to 60 feet of water. Perch were caught south of the harbor in 60 feet of water when moving from shallow to deep waters.
 
May-29-08 - Good catches of Coho and Lake Trout being reported. Trolling in 25 to 40 feet off Cherry Creek, Water is still a little cold.
 
May-22-08 - Good action is being reported for Coho and kings.
At Lexington - Fishing has been good with a combination of coho, chinook, lake trout, steelhead and walleye taken.
 
May-15-08 - Coho and Lake Trout being taken in 25 to 40 feet off Cherry Creek, Pink Silver Tail was the lure.

At Lexington - Trolling in 15 to 40 feet of water has caught trout and salmon on body baits and spoons. Pier anglers have caught small perch.

 
May-09-08 - This is the hot spot for anglers looking for Coho and Kings. Excellent catches in just 17 feet of water.
At Lexington Trolling in 15 to 25 feet has caught coho, lake trout steelhead and brown trout with a few kings and walleye mixed in. Bombers and rapalas were the ticket.
 
May-01-08 - Good salmon fishing is being reported in 20 feet of water

At Lexington - Boaters are trolling in 10 to 20 feet of water but it is slow going. A lot of small perch with an occasional bigger one are being taken from the pier.

 
Apr-24-08 - Boaters trolling are taking good numbers of coho, browns and steelhead using planer boards with long lining in shallow, using body baits and small spoons. Pier anglers were taking a few perch. -
At Lexington - Boater are trolling in 10 to 20 feet of water for trout and salmon.
 
Apr-18-08 - Some reports of coho being caught in 40 feet of water right along the mud line, with early morning being the best time. Blueberry muffin was the color of choice.
At Lexington - Boaters have caught coho and steelhead using spoons or body baits in 10 to 20 feet of water. Some small perch and a few larger ones are being caught in the harbor.
